AHIPP comments on PCCB cancellation of registration of Consearch.
The Association of Home Information Pack Providers observed today that the cancellation of registration of search and HIP provider Consearch Ltd proves that both the Search Code and the HIP Code should be taken seriously both by subscribers and those in industry involved in buying and selling homes. The Codes were put in place to protect consumers, conveyancers and estate agents sourcing and using HIPs which are of course unregulated by Government. Meaningful self regulation means compliance is not optional and today’s news shows that to be the case with the HIP Code.
Mike Ockenden said ”Whilst it is not good news that a firm has had their registration cancelled, it is a clear demonstration that the codes and the PCCB have teeth. This should emphasise again the value of only using code subscribers to source HIPs, in particular to protect consumers and estate agents. Those that don’t are taking a real risk.”
