About Us
History
Founded in 2005 by a number of key players in the emerging market, the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), was set up to ensure that there would be proper representation for those companies who will be at the heart of a new industry. Full membership will be open to those involved in the production and collation of Home Information Packs (HIPs), with Associate and Affiliate membership available to other interested organisations.
The Association commenced its activities on the appointment of Mike Ockenden as Director General in September 2005 and immediately set about gaining engagement in the consultation process. The first lobbying issue was over the announcement of a date for compulsory use of HIPs and that the date should be earlier rather than later in 2007.
Paul Broadhead, who was on attachment to the HIP programme with Government for 15 months with HBOS, joined the Association as Deputy Director General from 1st March 2006.
Membership Since its formation, AHIPP has grown to 107 members with a number of other important industry players expected to join in the near future. The Association is now fully engaged in the consultation process, being involved with a variety of Communities and local Governments Stakeholder Groups.
New Members The Association is delighted to announce that JSL HIPS Ltd and Dinnall Property Services Ltd have joined as Affiliate members.
For further information on membership of the Association please click here or e-mail info@hipassociation.co.uk.
The Association of Home Information Pack Providers has entered into a collaboration agreement with PISCES, the technology standards body for property related data.
The Association of Home Information Pack Providers is currently focused on a number of issues being dealt with directly, through working groups or with appointed agents. Some of the activities are:
An active Public Affairs programme engaging with politicians, Government departments and other important stakeholders.
The launch of a Code of Conduct for the industry together with a compliance and redress regime.
A working group focusing on all issues relating to the Home Condition Report and Energy Performance Certificate and the roles of Home Inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors.
A working group focusing on all IT issues relating to the implementation of HIPs.
An initiative focusing on the creation of a single coherent redress scheme for consumers for all HIP related problems.
Continuous lobbying of all relevant areas of Government on agreed policy positions for AHIPP and its member.
Growth of the membership at all levels in order that AHIPP becomes a Trade Association that is inclusive and broadly representative of the Industry as a whole. Recent Events:
AHIPP & CoPSO held a 'free' joint workshop on Thursday 10th April on the HIP Code and Search Code. It was well attended and judged to be a very successful and informative day. The presentation slides will be available shortly The dates for the next regional events have now been finalised and can be found on our home page, together with a booking form.
Going Forward:
CLG now have to lay new HIP regulations and amend the EPBD regulations on or before the 15th of June so that the mandatory period between laying and commencement can be observed. AHIPP’s membership very much looks forward to seeing the revised regulations so industry can make any adjustments that are required for a successful implementation going forward.
Looking after the consumers' interest!
AHIPP is now offering a helping hand to Industry, HIP handling guides now available.
AHIPP has two guides for use by industry, the Full Guide "Handling Home Information Packs" was created in partnership with Asset Skills, RICS, NAEA, and ourselves. It should answer all queries on HIP procedures and "Best Practice".
The Association has also commissioned a smaller abridged version that would be of interest to all Negotiators and those in the front line when providing HIPs to the Consumer. For more information on obtaining small to large volumes of both guides please email us on the link below.
